MIT Student Lounges
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA
Jones renovated spaces to serve as lounges for students to collaborate and relax between classes:
- Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) and Master of Engineering Program Lounge; and the
- Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE) Lounge.
Each creates a light filled space for students to connect with one another or just grab a cup of coffee. The renovations provide flexible space that can be subdivided into smaller rooms or left open as one large space through the use of movable glass walls. There is a new kitchenette with café seating, updated finishes, flexible furniture for group study, AV system and soft seating for relaxing. The DMSE Lounge has movable glass walls which can be opened up for events and functions.
