Materials Testing Lab

Massasoit Community College, Canton, MA

A large existing classroom space under-utilized by the Engineering Department is split down the middle to create a more appropriately sized computer classroom and a materials testing lab. The two new spaces are used in concert with each other—lessons being taught in the classroom are followed by hands-on implementation in the lab. The classroom also offers flexibility through a second entrance to allow the registrar to schedule coursework independent of the lab. The lab contains equipment such as grinders, polishers, and column testers for analyzing the properties of inorganic materials.  Additional infrastructure is provided though the lab to support future expansion and reconfiguration.
