Anna’s Place
Animal Rescue League of Boston, Dedham, MA
In 2014, Jones was approached by Design Learned, an accomplished animal planning consultant and interdisciplinary engineering firm, to be the architect-of-record for the Animal Rescue League of Boston's Dedham facility. The campus of buildings, called "Anna's Place," sits on a historic farm property in a bucolic, rural setting. The existing building was a historic farm structure that had previously been renovated and added onto to serve as an adoption center. Our project removed the addition, replacing it with a new, reconfigured solution. Combined with a renovation of the original historic structure, the result is a state-of-the-art adoption and animal care facility. The center serves dogs, cats, small animals, birds, and larger livestock such as horses. There are training facilities and a classroom in the building as well. The original building is restored with an exterior expression of wood shingles, complementary to other structures on the farm.
